Baby Karsten

Here are some pictures of Karsten. He is now 2 1/2 weeks old. Time has gone fast. He is so loved and not lacking in the holding or kissing department. We took him in for his two week check up and he weighed 8 lbs and 7 oz. He was 21 inches long. So he is growing!

Grandpa Smith

After G&G Skousen left, Grandpa Smith came to stay with us for a day. He was just finishing his mission in CA and took a little road trip to come and say hi. The kids were very excited especially when he took out a kite as big as the car to go and fly.

Grandpa & Grandma Skousen

We were super excited to have G&G Skousen come and visit. Grandma got to stay for a week and Grandpa stayed for about three days. We had so much fun with them and the weather was perfect!

Mikaela's Art

In the midst of everything going on, Mikaela had a special thing happen to her. She got picked out of all the third graders at Riverview to display her art picture at the district art show. Matt and I have no talent what so ever when it comes to drawing or art so we were very impressed. This is her picture and her award.

Mom's View

So I just wanted to write a note myself since Matt did the baby post. I did not want to post my picture after I gave birth because I had been up since midnight and I pretty much had another natural birth. (I got a numbing shot about 5 minutes before I gave birth.) I never thought after Mikaela I would have another natural birth, but I just went too fast again. It wasn't much fun and we had a few scary things happen right at the end so I was not only sleep deprived, in pain, but I was an emotional wreck. But Karsten made it out safely and is just perfect. I knew all along I was having a boy because when we picked the name something just clicked and it felt right. (We never could agree on a girl name.) :) I do have to say because of all the emotions when I was giving birth, when the baby came out I was only concerned about its health. I totally forgot that we didn't know what it was. I am so happy to have this sweet boy. Mikaela is in love with him, although she was a little sad it wasn't a girl. :) I am happy he was healthy and now Kai will have a little buddy to play with. We are all adjusting pretty good. (Even Kai who I thought would have such a hard time.) My mom came today so that made us all very happy. I have to say I feel very complete. I am so excited to raise my little family. I am very grateful for all my friends and family who have helped me out through all of this. :)

Karsten Herrick Smith

We welcomed Karsten to our family at 1:22 PM on Thursday, May 14, 2009. He arrived after much travail on Whitni's part, but both Whitni and Karsten are doing great and getting ready to come home.

Here are some pictures to show off our little guy. He has red hair - that's right! He takes after his mom more than any of our other 3 did as newborns.
